Feedback for the iOS Developer Course

This week Apple announced iOS 11, with a bunch of great features for developers, including Augmented Reality Kit, Machine Learning Kit, Music Kit, Files, a new Photos API and Airplay 2.

I thought this would be a good time to get your thoughts on The Complete iOS Developer Course, so that I can make changes and improvements that will make your learning experience even better.

Android N Apps Roundup

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Apps Roundup of published apps. There have been loads! Well done to everybody who has published an app. Here are just a few innovative ones recently published by students who have taken The Complete Android N Developer Course.

List it: To Do List and Task

It is true that there are quite a few To Do List apps available but this one deserves a mention and not just because it was created by a student! The app is clean, very easy to use and at the time of the writing ad free. Although the app is quite intuitive There is a step by step setup process along with the quick tutorial which is a breath of fresh air. It’s presented in a very professional way.

As well as adding items to a list you can also set timers and notifications to remind you about when you are suppose to do a job. If you install this app on multiple devices you can also synch your entries across devices.

You can take a look at List it: To Do List and Task from the Google Play Store.

Ultimate Maths Challenges

It’s important to keep the brain active. Sometimes it’s all too easy for us adults to get complacent and before long we struggle more than we use to when performing simple arithmetic. Ultimate Maths Challenges is an app suitable for both children and adults.

There are three difficulty levels Easy, Intermediate and Hard that allows you to challenged on additions, subtraction, multiplication, division or you can choose to mix it up! There’s a timer on each challenge which you can change with the difficulty settings to challenge yourself with each attempt.

The Ultimate Maths Challenges app can be downloaded from the app store here. So if you think your brain needs some stimulation - give it a go!

Touch Ball

This is a simple game but I can see that it can be quite an addictive one too and a time killer. The concept is simple, you have to touch the ball on screen each time it bounces of the wall. There’s a timer for the ball which will reset each time you touch it and the ball will get faster and faster with each level and additional balls will appear on screen and each of those balls will have an associated timer.

The app has got quite a few positive reviews already, there are a couple of negative reviews too criticising the simplicity of the game. It is a simple concept but fun nether the less!

You can checkout Touch Ball from the Google Play Store.

White Noise

If you struggle to get to sleep at night when there’s complete silence then this app could be for you! It’s not for everybody but the idea is sound! (no pun intended). White noise allows the user to set a sound allowing them to fall asleep.

There are three types of sounds you can select along with a volume control for the sounds, which can be set idepedantly and a timer. So if you do suffer from tinnitus maybe this app can help?

You can checkout the White Noise app here.

Bedmas Brain Trainer

Another maths brain trainer! Bedmas some of you may know is a order used to work out operations in algebra basics. Bedmas stands for Brackets, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

The app aims to teach users about the aspects of Bedmas and combines equations.

You can get the Bedmas Brainer from the Google Play Store.

Mars Explorer

This app will probably be of interest to anybody interested in planets in our solar system or planets in general. The app shows photographs taken from NASA’s Curiosity rover. You just select a date from the app and it searches for photographs taken by the rover from its different cameras. You can even share the images on Facebook from the app.

You can explore this app further from the Play Store.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the $9 promotion end?

The promotion lasts until 1st May 2017.

What courses are available?

They are the three courses used in The 6 Month Challenge, so you can get everything you need to transform your life for just $27! You get lifetime access the courses, and all the extras, including free web hosting, a copy of How To Earn $10,000 While Learning To Code, $50 of AWS credit, and a lot more.

What is the process of buying a course?

Just click one of the links above, make a payment and you’ll be given a voucher code to access the course on udemy.com for free.

I’ve lost my voucher code - what can I do?

No problem! Go to 6monthchallenge.co, click View Purchased Courses at the bottom of the page and enter the email address you used to pay. You’ll then see all the voucher codes for the courses you have purchased.

Why can’t I buy from Udemy directly?

Udemy has a minimum course price of $10, so we need to take payment for the course outside of udemy.com.

I have another question!

Just post below and I’ll reply on this page.

iOS App Round Up

One of the most difficult things about creating an app is to come up with an original or innovative idea. Here are a few good ideas students of The Complete iOS 10 Developer Course have come up with.

Crack It Math

Crack It Math is a visually attractive app where you have to solve mathematical problems before moving onto the next level. You start with some simple arithmetic which increases in difficulty then equations are introduced which gets more challenging as you progress. There’s even an AI Solver to give you a helping hand if you feel things are getting more difficult. In app purchases are available on the app which will give you additional levels but the first 32 levels are free.

A great looking game to exercise your mind. You can check out this visually stunning game from the App Store.

Lightning Maths

Another mathematics based app, Lightning maths helps you practice your multiplication tables. And like the name suggests, you have to answer the questions quick! You can control the speed in which the questions are asked to make it more challenging and this will certainly keep your mind sharp! The author claims that it’s an intelligent app that remembers what you can and what you can’t do and will never ask you to complete the same operation twice, unless you ask it to.

Lightning Maths is completely free and you can get it from the App Store here.

Move Alarm Clock

Although all iOS devices have an alarm clock facility this app is an alarm clock app with a difference. This app will wake you up playing your favourite music giving you a positive start to the day. The app also has a built in weather update feature so you can see what the day ahead is going to be like. And if you need to get up in the middle of the night and you’re not near a lamp or light switch the app has a torch light facility too!

While all these features are available separately it’s nice that the author has gone to the effort to combine them all in my app. Check out the full features of this app.

Quickest Tap

A multiplayer game the idea is to allow two players to tap on a button on each end of the phone as quick as you can. And whoever taps the quickest wins! The two buttons are on the same phone. Let’s hope there aren’t any reports of over enthusiastic players on this app. I can see how this game can become addictive though!

There’s score board that keeps track of each tap from the players. A very simple reaction game which has the potential to provide lots of fun for two people. You can check out Quickest Tap here.

Travel WODs

Travel WODs is an app intended for people who do lots of travelling and find it difficult to hit the gym. This app has a huge database of body weight exercises you can perform without the need for gym equipment.

It also has exercises to incorporate a kettle bell and jump rope too! With over 1000 exercises in its database you won’t run out of things to do. You can get this app from the app store here.
