Android App Roundup

It has been a while since we featured an article of some of the app students of The Complete Android Developer Course have created so I thought it would be nice to feature a few published apps so people can see what other students have published. Unfortunately it’s not possible to feature every app from students so here are just a few.

Easy Graph

easygraphThe app description describes the app as being a simple tool to aid users in visualizing any quadratic or linear equation in the form of a simple graph. And you can tell the developer has spent some time planning how the app interacts with the user. Getting a easy user interaction experience is much harder than it sounds for apps like these.

You can get the app here.

Dino Dash

dinodashA simple scrolling game where you control a dinosaur and shoot at on coming Pterodactyls (flying dinosaurs) while you jump in the air. The aim of the game is just to accumulate as many points as you can. It looks to be a good app to kill some time.

You can get Dino Dash with this link.

Flabby Burp

flappyburpYou’ve heard of Flappy Bird, this is Flappy Burp. The game is an obvious adaption of the popular app and taken from the lectures of The Complete Android Developer Course but with a twist! You have to avoid the coming hoard of fast food which approaches Burp.

Get Flappy Burp here.

Meteoroid Breaker

meteoroidbreakerA simple but fun game, Meteoroid Breaker is a game that tests the users. Quite simple to play, you just break the hovering meteoroid by tapping on screen and moving your meteoroid forward before you fall on the ground. I can see people playing this game for hours on end. Not bad at all for a first app!

You can get Meteoroid Breaker here.

Down Up Challenge

downupThe is an fitness app for working the core. You choose an exercise from the app menu, set a time on how long you want to perform the exercise for and it takes you through the motion of when to go down and when to come back up. A professional looking app, there are two versions. The free version just gives you push ups only as an exercise while the paid version gives you a few more exercise variations such as leg raises, squats and a circuit randomiser.

Get Down Up Challenge from this link.

iOS9 App Roundup

Here’s another round up of some apps published by students of the iOS 9 Developer Course. If you have published an app let us know by email, Facebook or Twitter!

Pho Shizzle

For those who don’t know, Pho is a Vietnamese noodle dish. The app is designed as a one stop app which will display all venues which serves Pho near the user and provides the reviews from online sites like Yelp, Zomato and Google. So you have all the reviews at your finger tips and can decide where to eat! A must have app for all Pho lovers. You can get the app here.

DEA Check

Aimed to make life easier for pharmacy technicians in North America, the purpose of this app is to check that the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) number provided by a doctor is legitimate for prescriptions and not forgeries. Looks very easy to use! This app can be purchased from the App Store.

Bar Routlette

If you want to go out for a few drinks but are not sure where then this is the ideal app! Bar Roulette will choose a highly rated bar from ratings from sites like Uber, Yelp and Foursquare and present you with a destination. The author of the app claims that the app will work anywhere in the world where Uber, Yelp and Foursquare are available. So this app would be great to use in a new town or city. Check out Bar Roulette from the App Store.

Plan D - Daily planning. Reinvented

A daily planner which outlines your daily routines. You can quickly enter your jobs for the day and receive a reminder for when it is due.

You can get Daily Planner Reinvented from here.

Simple BP

If you take your blood pressure on a regular basis then this is a very useful app. Simple BP will allow you to track your systolic and diastolic measurements readings from over time. It not only logs the results but can present the results in graph format so you can have a glance of the historic results.

Get simple BP from the App Store here.

Android App Roundup

Welcome to another roundup of published apps. Here we’re featuring some fun educational apps as well as an addictive game created by students of the Complete Android Developer Course.

Bubble Whiz

bubble whizzFirst up we have Bubble Whiz which is a tapping game that relies on timing and reactions. Quite a simple concept where a penguin in a bubble floats upwards but is intent to hit the wall. The idea is to tap on the edge of the bubble just before it hits the wall. If you tap too soon then the bubble will burst. As the penguin in the bubble floats higher the width of the walls will change.

Admittedly this is a rather addictive if not frustrating at times game. Definitely worth a go and you can check it out from the Play Store.

Candy Smash

Candy SmashYou’ve all heard of Candy Crush but this is Kids Candy Smash! It’s a great looking game with some good music to accompany it. Similar to Candy Crush you have to match letters to in a row to clear rows and columns. You have to match three letters of the same type to clear them. Despite the title of the game it’s perfectly acceptable for adults to play this game also.

Take a look at Kids Candy Smash here.

Dental Care

dentalThink you know about dental care? This app will not only provide you information about dental care but provides a guide for proper brushing technique and times you as you do it. There’s a collection of articles on home remedies for dental issues such as sensitivity and bleeding gums. You can even set an alarm to remind yourself to brush if you need reminding.

Don’t under estimate the simplicity of an app. It’s got quite a few positive reviews so far so it must be worth taking a look.

Table Trainer

Screen Shot 2016-03-23 at 18.40.32Even as adults we can neglect basic arithmetic. Table Trainer is an app which will help you remember your multiplication table. It will allow you to test your self up to your ten times table where you present the answers in the form of multiple choice answers.

Critics would say there are quite a few very similar apps out there already but it’s important as a developer to get your first working app published which is an achievement itself. Hopefully this is the first of many from androidappfactory.nl and you can check out Table Trainer from here.

iOS App Roundup

Here’s another roundup of apps created using Xcode7 and Swift 2 with a bit of guidance from The Complete iOS9 Developer Course. It’s really great to see lots of apps submitted this month. The only down side is that I can only cover a small number of them. All apps here are available on the Apple App Store.

T Zee Bird

tzeebird

Could this be the new Flappy bird? It’s a top down game where you have a birds eye view (no pun intended) and you only have two directions where you move your bird either left or right to avoid formations of birds which comes from the other direction.

A very simple game which is enjoyable and addictive but best of all it’s FREE and available from the App Store.

Leaflets

leaflets

Leaflets is a very interesting social networking app with an interesting concept! You can post articles based on categories or interests like food or gaming. The interface is really clean and well designed. It’s going to be interesting to see how this app evolves as the user base increases.

Definitely worth taking a look.

Letter Grab

lettergrab

There’s quite a lot of word games available but what sets Letter Grab is a little different. The author describes it as “playing hangman… on an air hockey table… where letters avoid you, and often get in the way”.

So the app not only exercises the brain but tests your patience as well. You can have a look at Letter Grab from the App Store.

iCountHabits

iCountHabits

Do you want to keep track of the number of times you drink a glass of water a day? Or the number of pages you intend to read in a book? Maybe you intend to exercise daily and intend to perform a number of pushups or situps? If so this app is for you!

The app allows you to setup your habits and set a number for that habit where you can record the number of times you have engaged in that activity. Quite a useful app to track your goals or habits. Check it out here!

FMC

fmc

FMC or Find My Car is an app which allows the user to store certain locations which you can recall later. The intention is if you have to park your car in a place you’re not familiar with, you can use the app to save the location and navigate back there later on.

So quite useful if you in unfamiliar territory. FMC is available from the App Store.

Android App Roundup

We’re seeing some really good apps published by students who have taken The Complete Android Developer Course and it’s a pleasure to share some of them here.

Hasten

hastenHasten is a vocabulary word game and the developer has released it under Apple iOS devices as well as Android. The concept is simple, you are given a number of letters and a time limit to combine them to make a word which you have to do on a roll. And you look to beat highest score.

A great way to exercise your brain daily whether you are on a commute or just have a few minutes spare.

Hasten is available from the Play store here.

Split Bill Calculator

splitbill

Created by Marcos Martini the same developer who created Hasten, Split Bill Calculator isn’t just a calculator! It allows the user to split a sum and share it via sms, email or even social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Very useful if you’re out dining and your friend forgot their wallet and you want want to send a reminder or needing to share a split bill like a holiday booking.

Have a look at Split Bill Calculator here. Nice promotional video too!

Heathrow Airport Information

heathrow

A very useful app which shows flight arrivals and departures information, details of departure gates, baggage claim and has indoor airport maps. This app hasn’t been out for very long but not surprisingly has had a huge number of downloads.

This app is a must if you are travelling to London Heathrow Airport (LHA) to catch a flight or pick someone up.

Get the Heathrow Airport Information app from the Play Store here.

SideKick

sidekick

SideKick is an app which gives you a summary of how many of your Facebook friends liked and commented on your pictures. For some people this would be very useful - especially for those who do Facebook marketing as this app will consolidate likes and comments in one place.

Get Sidekick from the Play Store here.
