It’s been a while since we’ve done a Apps Roundup of published apps. There have been loads! Well done to everybody who has published an app. Here are just a few innovative ones recently published by students who have taken The Complete Android N Developer Course.
List it: To Do List and Task
It is true that there are quite a few To Do List apps available but this one deserves a mention and not just because it was created by a student! The app is clean, very easy to use and at the time of the writing ad free. Although the app is quite intuitive There is a step by step setup process along with the quick tutorial which is a breath of fresh air. It’s presented in a very professional way.
As well as adding items to a list you can also set timers and notifications to remind you about when you are suppose to do a job. If you install this app on multiple devices you can also synch your entries across devices.
You can take a look at List it: To Do List and Task from the Google Play Store.
Ultimate Maths Challenges
It’s important to keep the brain active. Sometimes it’s all too easy for us adults to get complacent and before long we struggle more than we use to when performing simple arithmetic. Ultimate Maths Challenges is an app suitable for both children and adults.
There are three difficulty levels Easy, Intermediate and Hard that allows you to challenged on additions, subtraction, multiplication, division or you can choose to mix it up! There’s a timer on each challenge which you can change with the difficulty settings to challenge yourself with each attempt.
The Ultimate Maths Challenges app can be downloaded from the app store here. So if you think your brain needs some stimulation - give it a go!
Touch Ball
This is a simple game but I can see that it can be quite an addictive one too and a time killer. The concept is simple, you have to touch the ball on screen each time it bounces of the wall. There’s a timer for the ball which will reset each time you touch it and the ball will get faster and faster with each level and additional balls will appear on screen and each of those balls will have an associated timer.
The app has got quite a few positive reviews already, there are a couple of negative reviews too criticising the simplicity of the game. It is a simple concept but fun nether the less!
You can checkout Touch Ball from the Google Play Store.
White Noise
If you struggle to get to sleep at night when there’s complete silence then this app could be for you! It’s not for everybody but the idea is sound! (no pun intended). White noise allows the user to set a sound allowing them to fall asleep.
There are three types of sounds you can select along with a volume control for the sounds, which can be set idepedantly and a timer. So if you do suffer from tinnitus maybe this app can help?
You can checkout the White Noise app here.
Bedmas Brain Trainer
Another maths brain trainer! Bedmas some of you may know is a order used to work out operations in algebra basics. Bedmas stands for Brackets, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
The app aims to teach users about the aspects of Bedmas and combines equations.
You can get the Bedmas Brainer from the Google Play Store.
Mars Explorer
This app will probably be of interest to anybody interested in planets in our solar system or planets in general. The app shows photographs taken from NASA’s Curiosity rover. You just select a date from the app and it searches for photographs taken by the rover from its different cameras. You can even share the images on Facebook from the app.
You can explore this app further from the Play Store.
Another space related game Gravity Force puts you in control of a ball for you to guide through rough obstacles. You do this by weaving through space and change gravity settings. Make sure you don’t go near those obstacles flying around in space or the black holes because it could be a disaster!
If you go to the gym and lift weights you probably keep track of your exercises. There are some apps available for this but Weight Log no grills simple and easy to use app which will keep a list of all your exercises which is neatly categorised. You can enter your weights in either kg or lb and you’ll receive warnings if it’s been a while since you last increased the weight for an exercise to help encourage you to progress.
The app description describes the app as being a simple tool to aid users in visualizing any quadratic or linear equation in the form of a simple graph. And you can tell the developer has spent some time planning how the app interacts with the user. Getting a easy user interaction experience is much harder than it sounds for apps like these.
A simple scrolling game where you control a dinosaur and shoot at on coming Pterodactyls (flying dinosaurs) while you jump in the air. The aim of the game is just to accumulate as many points as you can. It looks to be a good app to kill some time.
You’ve heard of Flappy Bird, this is Flappy Burp. The game is an obvious adaption of the popular app and taken from the lectures of The Complete Android Developer Course but with a twist! You have to avoid the coming hoard of fast food which approaches Burp.
A simple but fun game, Meteoroid Breaker is a game that tests the users. Quite simple to play, you just break the hovering meteoroid by tapping on screen and moving your meteoroid forward before you fall on the ground. I can see people playing this game for hours on end. Not bad at all for a first app!
The is an fitness app for working the core. You choose an exercise from the app menu, set a time on how long you want to perform the exercise for and it takes you through the motion of when to go down and when to come back up. A professional looking app, there are two versions. The free version just gives you push ups only as an exercise while the paid version gives you a few more exercise variations such as leg raises, squats and a circuit randomiser.
First up we have Bubble Whiz which is a tapping game that relies on timing and reactions. Quite a simple concept where a penguin in a bubble floats upwards but is intent to hit the wall. The idea is to tap on the edge of the bubble just before it hits the wall. If you tap too soon then the bubble will burst. As the penguin in the bubble floats higher the width of the walls will change.
You’ve all heard of Candy Crush but this is Kids Candy Smash! It’s a great looking game with some good music to accompany it. Similar to Candy Crush you have to match letters to in a row to clear rows and columns. You have to match three letters of the same type to clear them. Despite the title of the game it’s perfectly acceptable for adults to play this game also.
Think you know about dental care? This app will not only provide you information about dental care but provides a guide for proper brushing technique and times you as you do it. There’s a collection of articles on home remedies for dental issues such as sensitivity and bleeding gums. You can even set an alarm to remind yourself to brush if you need reminding.
Even as adults we can neglect basic arithmetic. Table Trainer is an app which will help you remember your multiplication table. It will allow you to test your self up to your ten times table where you present the answers in the form of multiple choice answers.
Hasten is a vocabulary word game and the developer has released it under Apple iOS devices as well as Android. The concept is simple, you are given a number of letters and a time limit to combine them to make a word which you have to do on a roll. And you look to beat highest score.
